what on your mind? school subjects are on my mind.
here, we have elementary school (1-9 grade) and high school (3 or 4 years):
1-5 grade we have subjects like - mother language, math, english, german, art, PE, music, nature and society, my environment and culture of living (as much as i remember and the last three are translated from bosnian, i hope they make sense
)
6-9 grade you have:
mother language
math
english and german
music
art
PE
computer science
physics
chemistry
history
geography
biology
drafting (i don't know how to translate this one)
religion/ethics
democracy
all of them are obligatory, you don't choose anything.
was it like this in your school? is it like this in other countries?

Since we just talked about it I’ll tell you the class my kids take they are in elementary school which mean (kindergarten through 5th grade). They have one teacher that teacher there core subjects which is Math, science, reading/writing/spelling, S.S (social Studies so history as well as places and some religious forms). Next fall I’ll have a middle schooler so her subject will change and she’ll have different teachers for all subject with a case worker. They also sees teacher for Music, PE, counseling, Library, and one other thing they do.

i forgot to mention, 1-5 grade kids have one teacher and 6-9 they have a professor for each subject.
case worker? is that the professor who is responsible for one class or?
counseling is non-existing here, except if you're problematic.
and library is like reading books and talking about them? that's included in mother language.

@aureategloom so a case working is a resource teacher another way of day special education teacher that teaches and works with kids special needs and learning disabilities. They are not the main teacher just a teacher that is like an assistant teacher and take care of all those in that grade that have IEP. They do have assistance teacher or helpers that come in to help the main teacher so all students take get some from of one on one.
Councling is part of our counties not all schools way or helping build a more a rounded child. They talk about emotions how to socially interact with people and solve problems. They also allow the kids to talk to them as need incase things are going on at home. They also offer assistance with certain behavior. Middle child went for a year for anger and learning how to calm himself down when he gets to that point.
In elementary Library they get read to, learning certain things about how the library works, how to find books, how to cite books if your using them in a paper. This also allows the kids to pick a book for 2 weeks to read they can have up to 2-3 depending on age and behavior. Not all students have books at home to read. The upper grades like middle school and high school do not have library days but they are open during the school day for kids to check out books other wise you only see kids in there to study or get more books on a subject they are learning for class or projects.

@ShyBear88 that's amazing.
professionals who work with kids with difficulties in learning don't work in school because by the law there has to be 8 kids with difficulties FOR ONE PROFESSIONAL - which makes no sense, but that's how it is.
and you have special schools for kids with difficulties in learning.
and that's it.
i know what counseling is - but that's not common here either. there are pedagogues in school, but they don't pay much attention to emotions, conflicts and such. most of them are on positions because of political party and they work only with kids with bad behavior - not paying attention to ones who are anxious or isolated.
and library is part of mother language here - you learn grammar and you get books you HAVE TO read and write about them in two or three weeks and then the professor talks to kids about it and they get grades. it's not something kids can choose, they have to do it. i guess that's why some kids hate reading, because they're forced to do it and then their understanding of that book is being graded and they're valued based on that.
hope things change here.

that's a lot of subjects too... what is saints?
i think it's bad that kids here don't get to choose their passion but honestly... my "passion" back then is kinda different from my passion at the end of my high school. so maybe it's not that bad to take all of subjects even the ones that don't interest you.
