A strange story from a beach in Massachusetts

In my view I find it hard to believe that a coyote would be seen in a beach in Cape Cod on Thursday morning who was in the same area as Marcy Sterlis was walking on the beach carrying a stick in her hand to keep the animal away from her since she does have some knowledge of dealing with wild animals due to the lessons she learned from her parents. Marcy did what she could to keep the coyote away from her by screaming and swinging the stick around. The catch was that the coyote did not heed the warnings from Marcy to stay away from her as she was trapped near the water. Thanks to a stranger named Andrew DeCarton who was riding in his boat nearby, he took action by taking his boat near the shore to rescue Marcy from being attacked by the coyote by having the captain of the fishing boat William Kelley make noise to scare off the coyote by slamming a paddle against the side of the boat. The fishing boat then went close to the beach to pick up Marcy and get her inside of the boat and leave the Race Point Beach area with the coyote staying on the beach. Marcy is grateful that the fishermen came to her rescue since she was fearful what would have happened to her had help not arrived in time to save her from being attacked by a coyote. My knowledge of coyotes is that they are usually seen in desert areas and not in beaches.
