When did your baby start eating which foods? When do we take them off the bottle

My daughter is 10 months old. My doctor told me the goal is to not have her drinking the bottle of formula at all. So when to I start integrating cow's milk? Also my daughter started cereal a while ago. When did your kids eat cereal and when did they eat certain baby foods or even table food?

My son started on cereal at 2 months because he was waking up every hour and a half to eat. My grandma told me to give him cereal, and she's had more children than our pediatrician, so I did :) He had his first veggies (green beans) at 3.5 months, for christmas. I can't really remember when he started getting table food though. I think it was around 11-12 months maybe? As for the bottle, my son was off it completely by three weeks after his first birthday. He never took to sippy cups because he always tried to lay down. But we tried him on a straw (with a slurpee so it stayed in the straw LOL) and he took right to that. He loved it because he got more out of the straw then he ever did with the bottle! I know plenty of people that have their kids on bottles longer than that, and there's nothing wrong with it. I just think personally that around a year, it's time to start weaning them off. My son just happened to do it very quickly! As for cows milk, you can start them on whole milk at 1 year unless your doc tells you otherwise. It was funny, it seemed that every time I took him to the doc for a checkup, she'd say "ok, you can start him on such and such" and I'd say "great" even though he'd already been on whatever she'd said for at least a month!

That is soooo true. You just know what is right for your child. My son likes the straw too. He learned that you can get way more out of a straw than that of the bottle. Our only problem is sometimes it is too much. He is seven now, and has a brain disorder so I can kind of relate because in terms of feeding he is somewhat like a toddler. We started food when we thought he was ready. But unfortunately sometimes he stilll has trouble. Like I said earlier when a doctor, especially men, have babies then mothers should start to listen. Until then we do what we think is right.

our son started milk about about 9 or 10 months, and right around then also started to shift to much more table food than baby mush.

Cows milk is less filling so they usually want more table food. That makes sense that he ate more table food.

I've never heard that. I have 4 kids that were bottle fed and our doctors always told us they had to have formula until they were at least one year old. We only gave them milk occasionally just to get them used to the taste and we didn't really start that until they were 11 months old (although my son was drinking milk at 5 months because he used to steal his sister's cup and drink whatever she had because it was better then the water I put in his cup). Our youngest is 8 months old right now and we started her on jarred food at 5 months but we still don't feed her regularly. I hate this stage. It is such a pain. She gets some jarred food once or twice a week when I feel like. She fed herself table food at Thanksgiving (she was 7 1/2 months old). She loved it all and wants to feed herself now but she still chokes on most stuff. If I were you I would not stop giving your daughter formula. She needs that until she is at least one year old and I would probably find another pediatrician because he should be telling you to stop formula and give milk before 1 year old. Now is a good time to introduce the sippy cup. Try with watered down juice, a little milk (whole milk) or water. We usually keep water in the baby's sippy cup. She gets juice as a treat once in awhile. Just leave a cup of water where ever she is playing and offer it like once an hour or so, or whenever you are drinking something so she gets the idea of what it is for. And if you do feed her baby food offer the sippy every few bites. She might not drink from it but she will get the idea. We never had a problem losing the bottle at one because, I think, we started the sippy cup early (around 5 months old). They were all down to 1 bottle when they turned 1 and after their birthday I just stopped giving it to them.

we started weaning him, like givign him less and less milk at around 10 months and at 1 year we took the bottles away. he still has a suthor/pacifyer. we started him on cereal at 6 months, then fruit around 7 and meat around 8 months, now at just over 1 year were getting rid of the baby food and just feeding him what we eat cut up with no seasoning.

You are not supposed to start them on cow milk until one year. That is the same time that you are supposed to take them off of the bottle. We took a baby care class at the hospital before I took my daughter home. They told us that we shouldn't give the baby anything other than formula in her bottle. They said when the baby is old enough to have juice then she is old enough to drink from a sippy cup.

All Babies Welcome. BYOF (Bring Your Own Food) - Hey what did your mom give you? My mom gave me apples and chicken dinner...mmm..mmmm..good.
You are supposed to start whole vitamin d milk at 12 months old (1 year). Their bodies should be ready to accept and digest this cows milk by this time. At around 6 months you start putting the formula and all drinks in a cup. My son is 6 months now and starting on his cup. The brand NUBY has great transition cups. The spout is soft like a baby bottle nipple. My son started rice cereal at around 4 months and he is now on stage 2 baby foods. Table food is usually closer to 1 year with the exception of like mashed potatos and mashed bananas. By 10 months old you baby should be on stage 3 baby foods and theres all those little snacks since she has teeth by this time.

I started feeding my son cereal at 3 months. He got fruits & vegetables at 4 months and meats at 8 months. He is now 11 months and he eats table food now. He will be 1 on 12/29 and I have started giving him half whole milk and half formula to make the switch. He drink his juice and milk out of a sippy cup but still has formula in his bottle. With my oldest son I had him off the bottle at 1 year old but each child is different. I have a feeling my youngest is going to be harder to get off the bottle even though he drink from his cup. I am going to swich him over to whole milk completely within the next week.

according to our pediatrician and everything i have read, babies are ready for whole cow's milk at one year of age, not before that, formula provides a lot of nutrients that cow's milk doesnt have. my son started eating solids at 6 months of age as per his doc. we started him with rice cereal, then moved on to oatmeal and then mixed grains. after this we introduced veggies and then fruits and lastly chicken and fish. now he is 2 1/2 and eats most everything!

my son 2 days after his first birthday - my son 2 days after his first birthday.
I started to feed my son baby cereal when he was 4 months old. He started eating rice with soup at around 6 months. He is not yet on whole milk because his digestive system cant take it yet. He drinks those kinds of milk developed for toddlers 1 year old and above. I have not weaned him off a bottle yet because i dont think he is getting enough nutrition from the food he eats. i already have a hard time making him drink milk that i'm very happy when he drinks his milk, whether it be from a cup or from a bottle. You see, he only likes to drink grape and orange juice. He lost weight fast when he turned a year old and didnt want to drink milk anymore. he is so hyperactive. he is now 21 months old and he is doing great.

Our pediatrician said to start cow's milk at 12mths. Try weaning from the bottle. Our 8mth old will drink from a sippy cup but we haven't weaned her from her bottle.

Hi, My daughter is two now. But I did start her on baby foods about four months old. always start with vegtables, because if you start with the fruits it is sweet so they will like it more and not eat the other. so what i did is start with veg. for about a month and then started a little of fruits at a time. some times I would feed her the veg. first then the fruits. about 10 months I started to feed her little bits of table foods. But make sure they are very tiny peices and very soft.about a year she did't want the baby food.then i gave her like pudding, apple sauce. and she was eating table food. but still very small and very soft.and just then I got her off formula. But i did give her whole milk a month before little by little. I hope this helps.

Since you are starting her so late on milk you might want to try soy or rice. It is much better on the digestive system and it is tasty. If you do use cows milk. Try for raw milk. This milk is from cows who have not been given steroids or antibiotics. This milk usually is much better and has the natural immunity that is taken out during pastuerization. The only down side is that you may spend a little more for soy or rice but trust me it is well worth it. It will only be for a short time before she will be drinking other liquids
