We've been seeing and experiencing the repercussions of irresponsible human activities for the longest time now, never more intensely as the simultaneous occurrences of heatwaves, fire, sandstorms, hailstorms, typhoons, floods, landslides, earthquakes in just the seventh month of the current year 2021.
Yesterday, the United Nations declared a CODE RED for climate change. That also means humans are headed to .....
As wildfires blaze across southern Europe and parts of the US, just weeks after dramatic flooding in China and northern Europe left dozens dead, the world's ...

Just a thought from an older person...
In the 1960's, Acid Rain was going to kill us all and the Ozone layer was going to fail, killing us all.
In the 1970's, Fossil Fuels were going to be depleted and it would kill us all.
In the 1980's, Global Cooling was going to put us in an Ice Age and kill us all.
In the 1990's, Global Warming replaced Global Cooling and it was going to melt the ice caps wiping out all the beachfront shorelines and kill us all.
In the 2000's, Global Warming was replaced with Climate Change and it was going to kill us all.
In the 2010's Climate Change experts said our coasts would be under water, our wildlife would perish and it would kill us all.
Now, another dire prediction that will kill us all.
I'm tired of experts calling wolf and being wrong. There comes a time when some people just don't believe the experts anymore.

It's an inconvenient truth. Here's a story from another oldie.
In this unique feature documentary, titled David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet, the celebrated naturalist reflects upon both the defining moments of his...

One day we'll be gone, but I've lost count how many "experts" claimed it would be on this day or that day. Or, this or that would do it. They should just call it 'another excuse to waste money, doing.... exactly what you claim is killing the earth to "fix" it.

Inconvenient truth?
None of those dire predictions were true. None of it happened.
Aren't our shorelines supposed to be under water right now?
People keep saying that weather and natural disaster events are the worst in a hundred years.
Meaning they were worse a hundred years ago.
I think our Climate is ever changing but the experts have been wrong every time.
Are we good stewards of our planet?
No.
But guessing what will happen in the future is flawed. They can't even get tomorrow's weather report right.
I understand the fear that comes with announcements like this but time and again, the experts have got it wrong.

@DianneN I know. The situation is causing a lot of mental illness among the youth. Yet, I got to talk to a few millennials and Gen Zee whose future are most at stake, they are wracking their brains on how they can contribute, even in small ways, to solve the ginormous condition of the world.
Hope still springs eternal.
Trite but true.

I guess it is high time that the UN has something to say about the recent events we just have. It is unlikely that the flooding, forest fires that are happening is that widespread and it conveys a different message from our mother earth. It is time that we do something about this.

@eileenleyva I also remember those laws that were introduced to also help our environment recover but I think it should be everyone that should cooperate especially the ones that produce a lot of it like the US and other countries should also abide by because our country alone will not be able to solve this world crisis.

Far as I know, I was made aware of global warming three decades ago. At the onset of the new millennium, the 'inconvenient truth' about the potential catastrophic repercussions of 'climate change' has received enough attention for world leaders to convene on the matter.
Thus, in the Philippines, we have the clean-air act. We cannot 'siga' the dry leaves. It's against the law. That is also why we have the smoke emission test for vehicles, so the exhaust from the cars will not polute the air. That is also why we have the biodegradable/non-biodegradable/recyclable garbage disposal, to further not pollute the seas with plastic.
The main problem is Europe and China and the Americas which continue to emit methane in the air. The July disasters was due to these countries and continents continuing use of coal.

We are like the Boy Who Cried Wolf, one of Aesop's Fables, except that even serious warnings based on learned reports do not wake us up. We live as if there is no tomorrow.
We have to take care of that which nourishes us and it looks like we continue to play with fire.
Maybe, the one generation that has caused the most damage to the environment with an entitlement attitude.

True.
What is that saying - 'Tell it to the marines!' or 'Thou tell that to the marines but spake not to me!' - a phrase people learned to utter in haste - for disbelief or refusal to believe.
Yup. This time and age, people are their own opinion and wouldn't listen anymore. Eight billion blabber mouths talking at the same time.

@Shiva49 That is one reason I do not like avatars or pseudonyms, that enables anyone to blab expletives, spread lies, curse, rumor monger, etcetera.

@eileenleyva And that is more so after the advent of social media.
A lie told repeatedly is believed and truth may not be glamorous, palatable when compared to outright lies

Yes, I did listen to some of the speeches at Glasgow and like the youthful Greta Thunberg, is still as frustrated at the outcome of COPS26. From Barbados came a very powerful speech but still not powerful enough to make the elite countries listen.
Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, makes a speech at the Opening of the #COP26 World Leaders Summit of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (CO...

UN waited for Europe to be in a catastrophic situation. A privilege of the elite. When the disasters were in Asia, Africa, and South America, the UN was mum.
