Siberian Inferno and Historical Plagues

My daughter came down this morning with a wide grin to greet the morning. Nope, it's not sunshiny bright but hazy, yet there are pieces of good news to be grateful for. Something like our 'luck' is about to change. So, when she learned that I was watching the news about the 'Siberian Inferno,' she gave me a quizzical brow and asked why I was checking disasters again. In my defense, it was top of the climate change news. The Siberian Inferno is actually bigger than the fires in Turkey, Greece and America combined. And to think that Siberia is a cold, cold country. She reminded me to check on the worsening situation of the Delta Variant. I answered, 'Of course.' And even proceeded to enumerate the plagues I made a research on. Here's the list: Plague of Athens: 430 - 426 BC; 100,000 Deaths Plague of Antonine: 165 - 180 AD; 5 Million Deaths; Measles and Smallpox Plague of Justinian (Pandemic): 542 - 542 thru 750 AD 100000 Million Deaths EST; Bubonic The Black Death (Pandemic): 1346 - 1352; 100000 Million Deaths EST; Bubonic The Great Plaque of London: 1665 - 1666; 70000 Deaths; Bacterial Infection The Great Plague of Marseille: 1720 - 1722; half of residents of Marseille & 20% of Provence; Bubonic Third Plaque (Pandemic): 1855 - 1959; 12 Million in China & 10 Million in India alone; Bubonic Spanish Flu (Pandemic): 1928 - 1920; 1000 Million Deaths EST; Influenza CoViD-19 (Pandemic): 2-019 - ongoing; 4.32 Million Deaths ongoing, Novel Corona virus & Variants. My daughter made a quick about face and went upstairs. Okay, will check the news on Siberia burning still....
ABC News' Patrick Reevell reports from Siberia on the unprecedented spread of wildfires as officials attempt to battle the flames in a region that is typical...

Not yet. Russia is also being threatened by the fires. Siberia is undermanned in controlling the fires.

@prashu228 Very. They did not foresee that a heatwave could actually melt the ice.

I like to watch videos of major disasters too just to keep myself updated with what's going on outside my country but watching too much makes me feel depressed and hopeless so I stop and try to find more positive videos like my favorite vloggers who exude total positivity.

What is happening now all around the world is too massive to ignore. It is good to stay positive in life as that brings hope of a better future. But it would be trifling at this point to distract ourselves from the real picture about the state of the planet and climate change. Perhaps it would be helpful if the vloggers create awareness about man heading to extinction if man doesn't mend his ways. If the level of conscientiousness arises, then perhaps there is still a future for our vloggers.

It's also hard to believe it's snowing in South America. Science and technology made CoViD-19 look a lot better than all the other plagues. For one, the world saw the pandemia coming in real time. China wanted to keep it a secret but the internet made it possible for the world to know and get ready. For another, the vaccine could be developed in a matter of months, something the old world couldn't do.

At times, it is ok to check such news. I was not aware about the situation in Siberia. At times it feels that the world is nearing another mass extinction or a major upheaval.

The smoke has reached Russia. How ironic, isn't it, that a snow country is burning, while tropical countries such as Chile and Argentina are being covered with snow?

@FaruMesh It's a chastisement for man's failure to be good stewards of nature. Nature is having its revenge.

I do believe, as one American priest said, this is the great chastisement.

@RebeccasFarm Just like in the time of Noah. The people laughed at the boat maker and made fun of him. It was a different scenario when the rain started to drop. Our God gave us a rainbow and promised never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth. But man, proud and ever boastful of his puny stature broke the covenant. Thus all sorts of disasters we are receiving now.
