My Friday the 13th.

It's a superstition many are wary of. The elders would warn the youth not to go out or travel because some accident awaits. It's a curse the origin of which we know not why.
Today is the 13th of the month of August. And if's a Friday.
Did go out this morning and fetched my daughter from the hospital. Said the CoViD-19 situation has been too harrowing. So many cases and the morbidity has gotten under the skin. #1 My daughter has fever and colds. We stopped by the drugstore for paracetamol. #2 Then my daughter narrated they lost a baby. #3 Because of that, the senior resident in charge will not graduate this December. #4
Oh gosh! I thought. It couldn't be. I had to do something to counter these bad news.
Asked my daughter to lie down and sleep at the back of the car. Then told my elder daughter to buy some grocery and roast chicken and bread for two of my nephews: one lives alone and the other a special child.
Received messages how my nephews enjoyed the hot roast chicken. Promised to bring them pancit next week.
Home now, my daughters are sleeping upstairs. Am tackling the bunch of laundry - two bags of scrubs, socks. towels .....
The house is quiet except for the whirring of the machine. My Friday the 13th

Thank you. Daughter has no sense of smell. Will go for swab test.
Yup, I feel so bad for my daughter's colleague. The residency is strenuous. A sanction that delays graduation is a terrible blow. Actually praying for her. She's a good doctor.

@eileenleyva I hope your daughter is negative. But since the virus now is airborne, and she works in a hospital, the chances of being positive is really big.

Oh my, hope that your daughter is doing well now. I guess the possibility that it is Covid is high since she is exposed to them. But l am still hoping that she is not and just hit with common cold or flu. I am sure that she would isolate herself from everyone to be sure.

@eileenleyva So sorry to hear that but I guess she knows how to treat herself as she works as a medical front liner herself. She knows what to do. But it is hard to have one at home since you cannot do something but stay as far as you can to really isolate the virus away from transferring to others. Stay safe and hoping that she will be fine in the coming days. I am sure she has been vaccinated already and that is a big plus to be able to fight it better.

You are correct. My daughter tested positive and is now in isolation. I can hear her cough but otherwise, it's very quiet here in my home.

@rsa101 Everything you said is true. Thank you very much for that clear assessment.
Three of us are in three different rooms, use three different bathrooms, and wearing masks all the time. The girls are worried about my comorbidity but thus far, I can still taste the lozenges.
It's a health crisis but I'd like to win the battle over.

@eileenleyva is your daughter exhibiting any symptoms?
Agree with you that we need to do away with that Friday the 13th superstitions. Same with August being a ghost months. Believing those will do no good.

@allen0187 August a ghost month? That's October. August is regal. Worthy of being aloft - as in August Rush.
My daughter, thank God, was symptomatic - fever, loss of smell, bitter taste, headache, and physically down-trodden. Swab test confirmed the virus last night. She's upstairs, isolated in the sala That will be our home scenario for two weeks, I think.

Thanks. My daughter is still unwell. Scheduled for a swab test this morning but she couldn't get up. The weather ain't friendly. I hope the rain stops. It'd driving made difficult.
By the way, let's shoo that superstition. Not good. Let's focus on the Assumption today. It will be a glorious Sunday.

Wish, Christ, helps your daughter, get well, amen. I just realized it riding the bus shopping today. Walmart, restocking tonight, so tomorrow will be lucky for Walmart shoppers at Fort Street Mall

@oahuwriter A quiet Saturday I had. I couldn't mylot because my daughters decided to watch movies using my laptop.
As it is, my daughter ain't well yet. But the paracetamol kept the fever away. She can't smell odors though, so we'd go for a swab test later.

Friday the 13th..I always felt that it is some psychological fear created by Horror movies. Here too many people don't consider 13 as a lucky number. Well, it's just another day and it can be good for some and rough for others.

Thank you. Hoping my daughter wakes up any moment now. It's almost supper time.
I like the number 13. My last two home addresses have the numbers 1 and 3, and I feel I have been blessed bountifully.
Superstitious beliefs actually started as warnings to instill fear on the young people. 'Do not walk under the ladder' was supposedly a superstition but all it meant was the ladder might fall on you.
Yes, the movies had to utilize these superstitions to earn money at the box office.

I never did, not even as a child. I, of course, wondered, why a black cat crossing your path is an omen. I simply listened to the folklore. Fascinating stories really. With age and better understanding, I just assumed superstitions were baseless.

I never really bothered about Friday the 13th, honestly. Or whatever superstitions for that matter. I actually didn't even realize today is the 13th until I read your post.

My daughter is still asleep. My elder daughter woke her up for a moment so she could take the paracetamol. Thanks for the good wishes.
Neither do I believe in superstitions. Saw a friend's warning on fb when I got home. The thought wasn't mine. Scolding my self right now for even dwelling into it and writing such a post.

Thank you. My daughter is trying to recover her strength. She was on board from 11 pm to 3 am because the wards were full. She was exhausted.
There are many horror movies with Friday the 13th as the underlying theme. Never watch any.
