I was in the Philippines at the beginning of pandemic.. I arrived their on the 15th of Jan, 2020, and came back here in Au. on the 25th of February. Two weeks before I flew back to Au. they cancelled flights to and from China and Taiwan..I started worrying about catching this virus but couldn't get any face masks, they were all sold out..But I managed to make one to wear on the plane.. Very lucky that my flight was not cancelled..We're supposed to fly back to the Philippines at the end of March, but three weeks after I arrived back , here in Au.. all flights were cancelled and lockdowns begun.. Face masks became mandatory.. I received orders of 40 cloth face masks from a store owners for their employees, but some of their customers also placed orders.. So I kept making them.. At $20 each, I sold about 60 pieces, then stopped selling them, and started giving them away to my friends and my neighbours.. and of course to all my family members.. I thought, it's better than disposable ones.. Better for the environment anyway.. I know none of us like wearing it, but because we have to, which do you prefer to wear, cloth face masks or disposable ones?..

Thanks!.. I was concerned about those disposable ones ending in the parks and rivers.. because some people are not as concerned about proper disposals..

@epiffanie Yes, I saw on the parks and roads or even in the beach. People are just careless not to put in the bin.

@epiffanie yes, it is still mandatory now. We are on lockdown again until the 20th. Numbers are increasing again due the surge of delta variants

I actually wear both at the same time. Research shows that double masking is effective in stopping the spread of the virus. So I wear a surgical maks and then a cloth mask over it.

That makes sense..I thought surgical mask should be worn over the cloth mask.. But I guess it won't make any difference..

I only have 4 pieces of cloth mask that I like and personally wash and hang to dry daily and which I rotate weating although we have boxes and boxes of disposable masks at home.

It is said cloth masks are not effective. I wear washable ones - some are not cloth masks

Maybe it depends on what material is used .. I experimented on a few different kinds of materials.. I settled with the thick pure cotton and I lining and filter.. At least it's easier to breath..
