Day 61 Judges 2:1 And an Angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I swore unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. 2 And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this? 3 Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you. 4 And it came to pass, when the Angel of the LORD spoke these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept. 5 And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD. People notice when you break your promise. They remind you about the agreement you made with them. The Angel of the LORD reminded the people about the covenant He made with them. He told them how they disobeyed Him and didn’t do what He told them to do in driving out the people from the land He gave them. When the people heard how they failed to obey God, they wept and brought sacrifices to Him. As Christians, you know the Angel of the LORD is the pre-incarnate Christ Jesus. You know that because He said He made a covenant with His people. Angels don’t make covenants, only God makes a covenant with you. The Angel of the LORD came to the people. God will come to you to seek you and tell you how you failed or overcame in your walk with Him. He wants to spend time with you. He wants to be your God. If you won’t go to Him, He will come to you. He will get your attention by any means possible. What will it take for you to worship God and spend time in His presence? Does He need to make an unplanned appearance in your life to make you realize how far you have strayed from Him? He will. He never changes. As the Angel of the LORD came to the people, Jesus will make Himself known to you. Don’t wait for God to come to you, go to Him. Spend time with Him daily in prayer and Bible study. Let’s pray: Father, let me seek You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Let me see the warning signs when I fail to spend time with You and come back to You in full repentance. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 13 August 2021 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay.
