Day 62
Judges 10:10 And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, “We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim.”
11 And the LORD said unto the children of Israel, “Did not I deliver you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?
12 “The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.
13 “Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.
14 “Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.”
15 And the children of Israel said unto the LORD, “We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seems good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.”
16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
What does it take for you to realize you can’t keep doing what you’ve been doing all your life? You need to change so your circumstances will change for the better.
Israel strayed from God, and He gave them into the hands of their enemies. Yet, He provided judges to save them from their enemies. As long as the man or woman judged Israel, they followed the Lord, but they pursued the gods of the surrounding nations when the judge died. They even set a king over them to rule them. Yet the king didn’t follow God but led them farther away from Him.
Israel realized their sin and prayed for God to deliver them from their enemies. God told them to seek the gods they served, but He would not deliver them from their enemies because they forsook Him. They cried to Him and begged Him to deliver them, and got rid of the strange gods and served God. When God saw their heart, He grieved for their misery.
As Christians, how many times have you seen your loved ones stray from God and watched them suffer at their own hands with the choices they made. Their lives are full of turmoil and hardship. They think they know better than you what is good for their lives. The only thing you can do is pray for them that God would melt their hearts and bring them back to God.
God never left Israel in the hands of their enemies for long. He always provided a savior to lead them and bring them back to Him.
When you realized you couldn’t do life without God, you came to Him and acknowledged your sin, just as Israel did, and He delivered you from Satan’s hands when you acknowledged Jesus as Savior and Lord.
God always provided a savior, a judge, for Israel to bring His people back to Him. God provided a Savior for you, Jesus, His Son, to lead you back to Him and show you that you can’t do life without Him.
Let’s pray: Father, keep my feet from straying from Your Word. Let Your Word be in my mouth and on my tongue. Bring me back to You when my thoughts start to stray in the wrong direction. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
