I was lucky to get the ARC of Carrie Ann Ryan's new paranormal romance Dawn Unearthed. It's the first book in her new series, The Ravenwood Coven.
Meet Sage Reed, a witch who doesn't know she is one. A young woman who has been through so much, namely the loss of her husband and the hatred of her in-laws. It's a lot for a girl to deal with, so what is she to do but start new.
It's been two years and Sage is finally learning who she is again. She just needs to learn a few more things.
A call from her beloved aunt has Sage packing up and moving to Ravenwood and opening her own bakery in the small town.
All the excitement begins before she even hits the town limits.
Rome Baker, a bear shifter and Alpha of his den, is found by Sage unconscious. It's the weirdest thing, her car spun out and landed her car right in front of him. Sage wouldn't have been able to miss him, then when she goes to touch him, just to try and move him away from the tree and mud, there's a sharp burst of electricity.
It shocks Sage into a faint and Rome awake.
Right then and there, Rome knew what she was to him not that he could say anything yet. He also knew that something was off about Sage. Something that she didn't know herself.
What happens when a witch and bear shifter get together?
How do you focus on a relationship when you're being attacked every day by an evil that you don't know nor understand yet?
There's a lot to learn and so little time to do it in. Especially when there are lives on the line.
I would recommend this book hands down. It's been a while since Carrie Ann has delved into the paranormal so I was ecstatic to get this one. She writes so well and other than making me cry, it's a really good book.
