I was just listening to the song "I have a little nut tree" that made me write this post. I have talked about this tree before but thought you would like to listen to this little girl singing the song
Our nutmeg tree bears year in and year out and there is a demand for both the mace and the nut

I have to admit that I knew little about nutmeg before just now.
I just read the most fascinating history of the spice and that the Nutmeg tree grows fruit flesh that can be candied or pickled, the outer shell carrying the seed is mace and the seed itself is the nutmeg.
What a productive tree they are.
I can see why wars were fought. It's always had a high value throughout history.
I wish I had one I could grow indoors.
