A bittersweet story from Houston Texas where the nephew of U S military soldier Corporal Edward J Ryan who perished during World War II on March 27, 1945 in the Netherlands when an artillery shell hit Edward's tank.
Corporal Ryan was awarded a Purple Heart posthumously. The whereabouts of the medal remained a mystery until 76 years later inside of a metal box 20 miles away from Corporal Ryan's home in Minnesota.
A non profit group named Purple Hearts United who does a super job of informing family members of deceased soldiers contacted Kirt Ryan who lives in Houston Texas the good news that the Purple Heart Medal that was awarded to his late uncle was coming home to him and his relatives.
Kirt is very happy that the Purple Heart Medal that was awarded to his late uncle is not coming home to be in his home which he appreciates with all of his heart.

@rakski It means a lot to family members of war veterans to have items like medals in their home as a part of their family history.
