Avocado

I am still trying to like the taste of Avocado while many sing its praises and consume it as their staple diet. I had not tasted it at all until a friend brought me a few. The seeds from those avocados I had sown and now we have two plants doing well. I know it will take years for them to start yielding but someone will get to taste them if not me. How do you eat the fruit - any ideas you can share?

I personally like avocado a lot! if you have/enjoy onion, tomato, jalapeƱos, cilantro, salt and pepper, you mash them with avocado and u get a nice guacamole that you can eat with chips as a dip!! Also lately I like to spread it on top of a crunchy tortilla, season it with a bit of salt and pepper, and then top it with minced tomato, ( I like to prepare the tomato with lemon, salt and pepper as well) that's a yummy combo that I like to have for a light breakfast or dinner :D If you try any of the recipes let me know your opinion

I have them when I go to Kolkata to my uncle's house. Simple. Just take out the seed. And cut them and spread them on a piece of bread with another on top d eat. It's like butter.

I love avocados! It is a fruit, but we treat it like a vegetable (for savory recipes). I love it as guacamole as Sam218 described. But we also add slices to salads, burgers, sandwiches . . . or eat it just like that!

@allknowing My mom used to serve it just cut in half, with a big spoon of mayonnaise. That was not my favorite, but well, a simple way to eat avocado anyway.

I love avocados. I have them plain with some salt and pepper, I love them with Mexican salsa and I put them on sandwiches like a sub sandwich or a tuna fish sandwich and of course I like them in all kinds of salads. Of course, there is always delicious guacamole with mashed avocados.

I do not like avocado and never buy them. But I often get a few from my friend as a gift. You can make a bread spread with it....add some black pepper, sugar( optional)/honey, butter, chilli flakes, oregano and lime juice. I am able to eat it this way but still not very fond of it.

I like them. I will eat them in wedges with lime juice, salt and pepper on top. Also, mashed with seasonings. It makes a great dip for quackers or cut raw vegetables.

I like them just chopped in a mixed salad, or spread on toast with some chilli jam. Also mixed in with cooked rice and other bits and pieces to stuff baked peppers.

I love it mashed on toast with salt and pepper, in omelettes with shrimp, in salads, on hamburgers, or just scooped out and eaten alone. My favorite is in guacamole.
