What a Lousy Monday

If you’re wondering if retired people have a “Monday,” the answer is yes. Man, did I have the Monday-est of Mondays yesterday. The simple explanation: the A/C stopped. Thank God, it was a very easy fix. It’s nice and comfortable in the house here on Tuesday night. Twenty four hours ago, though, it was nearly 80 in the house. Ah, but that’s just the half of it. The other half of it was the repairman’s arm that got mangled on the air conditioner fan. He knew better. I heard him telling his boss that while he was waiting for a ride to the hospital. He was reaching to feel the compressor motor, to see if it was overheated. He just didn’t reach low enough. His arm bent two of the fan blades. It’s a miracle he just needed 21 stitches and not his lower arm re-attached. He is fine. I ordered him to let me know how he was. He dutifully left a message on my voice mail after he got out of the ER. Today things are calmer, after that 7 AM wake-up call to go to the dermatologist (my dermatologist is great, but if you don’t get his first appointment in the morning he’ll be running behind all day, and that is NO exaggeration or joke). I have a new filter for my air conditioner, and hopefully Mr. One-and-a-Half-Arm will be back to finish the job tomorrow. If not, it’s working well enough to keep the house from melting. At least, I hope. I don’t want to come home from the golf tournament and find a Wicked Witch of the West pile of ooze that used to be my house waiting for me. Sure was Monday!!
