Diner owner saves life of a choking customer in New Jersey

Dervis Akturk who is the owner of the Empire Diner in Brooklawn New Jersey credits his knowledge of using the Heimlich maneuver to save the life of a customer named Joe Moore who was choking on a piece of chicken inside of the restaurant on Saturday evening. Dervis is grateful that he was at the right time at the right place when Joe choked on his chicken parmesan meal when a friend of Joe tried to assist his friend get rid of the chicken out of his mouth when Dervis took over. Dervis was praying that he would be able to save the life of the customer who was having trouble breathing when after many thrusts to the midsection of Joe, he was able to get the piece of chicken out of his mouth. Dervis admitted that it was the first time he had to use the Heimlich maneuver to save the life of a choking victim. Thank goodness he was successful to save a man's life..
