Day 75
1 Samuel 23:1 Then they told David, saying, “Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshing floors.”
2 Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I go and smite these Philistines?” And the LORD said unto David, “Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.”
3 And David’s men said unto him, “Behold, we are afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?”
4 Then David enquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, “Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.”
5 So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So, David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
Fear can cause people to hide from those they believe will harm them.
David ran from Saul because Saul intended to kill him. When he did, David gathered an army of castaways. When they told David the Philistines intended to fight against Keilah, a city of Judah, David prayed to God to find out if he should go against the Philistines and God told him to go and He would deliver them. As much as David was eager to go to battle for Keilah, the people were afraid. So, David prayed a second time and God assured him of victory. Then the people fought against the Philistines and saved Keilah.
As Christians, you need to make hard decisions. When you pray, you question whether you heard God or your imagination, and pray a second time for clarity. God will give you the same answer as the first time. Then you will know God answered your prayer and you will feel secure in the decision you make.
What do you face today? What decisions stand in front of you? Pray. Ask God to give you clear direction on what you need to do and He will answer you.
Let’s pray: Father, You said You would never leave me or forsake me. Let me know the answers to the problems facing me, so I clearly understand what I need to do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
