This book is a crossover of two of Brenda Novak's series - The Whiskey Creek series and the Silver Springs series. Personally, I have only read one book from each series, however this book does very well as a standalone. ~~~~ After everything she worked for is destroyed, pediatrician Natasha Gray is determined to build a new life. Divorced, bankrupt and suddenly a single mom, she's ready to start over in Silver Springs - on her own. She certainly doesn't need any help from Mack Amos, the man who's already broken her heart twice. Although Mack has had feelings for Tash since they first met, too many things have stood in the way. He's always given her the support she needs, though, and he'll do the same now. Even if the desire he wrestles with threatens to undermine his intentions... But her heart is not the only reason Natasha wants to keep Mack at bay. More time in her life means getting closer to her son, which could lead to a revelation neither of them is ready to face. ~~~~ There is a sub storyline which takes place in Whiskey Creek which sends Mack and eventually Natasha back there. If you haven't read the previous books in the series it doesn't really matter, all you need to know is shared in this story. There is even a bonus story at the end of this book, the story of Natasha and Mack's first "encounter". A prologue of sorts. There are not one, but two different questions of paternity with different characters. I found this storyline very well written and the reactions of all parties were pertinent to the story and the characters and their personalities. My only pet peeve with this story is Natasha's stubbornness. I can understand a woman wanting to make it on her own, to prove she is strong and independent, and I guess this attitude is necessary for the sexual tension, but she was a little too stubborn for my liking. Read the book and tell me you don't think so too. If not, then it's just me. Actually, I can relate to the story as I was an independent, single mother. I could never shake the love of a previous love and when he did return into my life I did not push him away (maybe I should have). Maybe that's why this story touched me so much. Another great story from Brenda Novak. I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Wow! Nice review. Sounds interesting. It would be good to know the stubborn protagonist. I like plots that show a strong protagonist though some might be strong due to negative traits.

@patgalca The more you reveal about the book, the more interested I get to read it. I have not read any fiction in a long time. I read a lot but due to my work demands, I end up reading more stuff about my workI was a voracious reader but now reading has become a luxury

I am not a fan of series for the simple fact(s) that I have to go back and get all the books in the series (and there's usually quite a few), or you have to wait for the next book in the series. I'll read them but I prefer standalones.
