Before the Halloween Season ends, which is soon because August is nearly over, I feel it's my duty to point out Scary Halloween Travel Destination you may not have considered before: Iowa. Don't panic. I'm not going to overwhelm you with all the Paranormal Wonders In Iowa. Just two two of them. Starting with The Villisca Axe Murder House. That's where, on the night of June 9, 1912, six members of the Moore family and two house guests were bludgeoned to death with an axe. Some people say the house is haunted. You can see for yourself---If you're lucky. Ghosts don't always appear for those who want to see them---by spending the night in the house. Or you can take the less scary route with a simple tour during the day. Next up, we have The Van Meter Visitor Festival. Van Meter is a suburb of Des Moines and in 1903, there were many sightings of a large creature that was dubbed The Bulletproof Bat Monster. It got that name by looking like a bat and surviving being shot by many scared townspeople with guns. There haven't been many sightings of The Bulletproof Bat Monster since 1903 but if you go to The Van Meter Visitor Festival in September, you might get lucky. That's it for this Halloween Travel Guide. Will there be more? Stay tuned and find out. ************ Villisca Axe Murder House https://villiscaiowa.com/history.php ------------------------------------------------------- Van Meter Visitor Festival https://www.facebook.com/vanmetervisitorfestival/ ------------------------------------------------------- Van Meter Visitor festival keeps the hunt alive https://www.adelnews.com/news/20171002/van-meter-visitor-festival-keeps-hunt-alive ------------------------------------------------------- Meet The Bulletproof Bat Monster Of Van Meter, Iowa

@xander6464 I'll look forward to that post! I got lost in a cornfield once when I was a kid, and I was terrified. It was a small field, so I'm sure I wasn't really lost, but to a young kid it felt like there was no hope of ever getting out! LOL

@xander6464 We have a few around here that do the same thing. Some are for adults only and go way overboard with the scary characters, and some are more kid-friendly.

Fascinating history, but I don't think I'm quite brave enough for either of those? Do you have something like rainbow unicorn petting zoo?

Well, not anything like that with a paranormal aspect that I can think of but Iowa does offer some attractions that produce shrieks and screams---which I'm told are just as good as the ones that come from being scared.

I have heard about the Villisca Axe Murder House and I think with my strong sixth sense and sensitivity to the world beyond I would probably see a lot more than what I wanted to in that house

I wish you could get yourself to visit it, We still don't know who killed them and maybe you could clear up the mystery.

Is the axe murder house the place you use to live in? Is that why your always trying to scare me after 10pm with axe murder people ? Cool places though I think I would stick to the day tours

I wish. All my houses have been boring murder-free houses that aren't even haunted.
