The job that the deputies who work for the St. John The Baptist Parish did to rescue 77 year old John Moore and his pet dog Nixon is amazing to say the least. A relative of John who lives in New Jersey contacted the St. John The Baptist Sheriff's Office after Hurricane Ida passed over southeast Louisiana to check up on his dad to see if he needed some help or report the tragic news that his dad had passed away. When the deputies showed up to John's home in LaPlace, they found John by himself without any food, drink or electrical power with his dog who were alive. The deputies took John to a local hospital to recover from his near death experience and his dog to a local emergency center where Nixon recovered as well. After John was released from the hospital, his dog Nixon reunited with his owner. To make this story even sweeter, John and his dog were taken by a neighbor to an airport in Baton Rouge where John and Nixon will reunite with his son soon. The police in St. John The Baptist Parish are the real heroes by rescuing a stranger inside of his damaged home in LaPlace Louisiana according to John's neighbor.

This is such a miracle, especially that they found him. And there's nothing like a rescue especially a 77 year old senior citizen. This is truly an amazing story of a survivor of Ida!

I agree with you. It is a miracle that John and his dog were alive one day after the hurricane came to town one day later.
