A triduum to and fro...

Three consecutive days I'd gone back and forth the hospital where my younger daughter serves. She opted to have relaxing moments in the home before the test for the residents. I obliged, even if the hospital is far from home. Three break of dawn mornings I followed the all too familiar course, my only drawback the poor street lighting. Plus, probably, age is catching up with me and I don't have the youthful zest for driving any longer. Would have thought nothing of the job if I was free of this pain and that. Sigh. My daughter said she wants to go to Batangas Farm in October when she gets to have a break. I was quiet. I wouldn't want a taxing long distance drive to and fro.... I must be getting old.

Can you change that routine so that she drives to work and you drive the car back home?

I can't trust my daughter the wheels. She's always snoring to and fro.

@merrybelle2021 Doctors don't have the normal sleeping pattern of eight hours at night, especially if the operating room is pretty busy.

Does your daughter drive? Maybe she can drive this time?

Yup, both girls are licensed without driving. I think it is a millennial thing. They were used to grab before the pandemia.

@florelway That's correct. My younger daughter used the grab trip for sleep. The elder one could finish an article all the duration of a traffic all the way home. My daughter once 'grab' me from a hotel somewhere in MOA, I attended a dinner party with 'I forgot', and I think I enjoyed the long trip home watching the neon lights. It was an experience! When am driving, all I see are tail lights and stop lights.

@eileenleyva lol maybe they think they can be more productive that way. They can do other things like surfing the net while traveling.

Would getting a driver to drive your daughter and drive you to Batangas an option you'd consider?

@allen0187 Still a month away. Change can still happen in the hospital. Hope not.

Most likely, we'd just hire a van for a day trip. Thanks for the idea.

That could be a plan but I don't look forward to a long distance drive. Can't trust my legs not getting cramps. It's come so often I think my sugar has soared pretty high.

@rakski Millennials don't drive, I believe. They 'grab.' So I think that if our dream road trip to the farm pushes through, we'd just hire a van.

I still enjoy driving, but I don't usually bother going places unless I need to. I've kept the mileage pretty low on my car, so it has lasted a long time!

The best driver always takes the wheel. I think I am that. Even my brothers concede.

I understand Eileen. I can no longer drive at all..nerves too bad. The best I could do is around the quiet streets.

Yup, that is what my endocrinologist said, once the nerves are damaged, there's no way of getting back to tip top shape. Piercing pain jolting me every so often. Sometimes my trigger fingers would lock. Am wary I couldn't get a good grip of the wheel. Or if I could press a pedal properly. Thanks very much for the understanding. Yes, the quiet streets are comforting. That's where I gear slow and ponder.

It sounds like you need a rest. I feel the same way about driving. Hopefully you will find a way to make both of you happy.

I think old age is setting in. Used to be I could drive without getting exhausted the whole week, waiting for the girls and other students till the wee hours of the mornings, till the projects were done. Now, it was just three mornings when I had to force my self out of bed and I felt like Pheidippides collapsing after a 40 kilometer run back to Athens from Marathon. My elder daughter is checking out local travel for her younger sister's break. Thank you. I really wish we could find a destination relaxing.
