My little treat was sullied!

As I’ve mentioned before, my partner gave up alcohol about 4 or 5 years ago. He says he doesn’t miss it at all and is quite happy with a cup of tea. Before, we would sometimes have a beer on a Friday or Saturday evening, or a glass of wine while doing the washing up (washing the dishes). Sometimes we would open a bottle of wine and I would have one glass and he would finish off the rest of the bottle, and I did worry that perhaps that was a bit more than was good for him. Now though I confess that I miss it! Sometimes I would like a glass of wine on a summer evening or a cold beer after working in the garden but the fact that he doesn’t drink makes me feel that somehow I’m doing something that I shouldn’t. Now and then I find myself sneaking off to enjoy a little treat in private. Yesterday evening was one of those occasions. I had spent a couple of hours hard at work in the garden, and felt I had earned a reward. After dinner and putting Little One to bed, I had a shower, changed into my nightie and decided I would sit in bed to finish off some work and have a small glass of wine while I did so. I had drunk about three quarters of the glass when I took a sip as I read my current assignment and felt something against my lip - I found a large housefly had gone and drowned itself in my glass! It seems the world is conspiring against me. I didn’t drink the last bit. All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2021.

You do not have to feel guilty You can have it when your partner is not around. And about that fly too bad you could not go through the rest.
