You know what I realized? It’s been almost a year since I pulled the musical covers over you! And so, for your dining and dancing pleasure — and maybe a surprise or two along the way — I present the NINTH installment of “Songs You Might Not Know Were Covers.” I love doing this series, because I promise you there are songs I discovered were actually covers that even shocked me. As usual, these aren’t in the order of “favorites,” but more for the surprise value. Of course, that shows what I know: a couple of years ago the biggest surprise turned out to be the one I thought was least surprising! So let’s see if you’re as shocked as I was on this next round of cover songs. Meanwhile, as you well know, this is a cover, originally by Rev. Al Green. I always look for a reason to use it, so why not now?
