Does anyone have a great recipe for black bean soup? I've never made it and have searched for a recipe that is pretty mild -- not spicy. I like the one they serve at Lonestar Steakhouse. Yum!

I love black bean soup! yum! Here is a super easy recipe. You can make it as spicy or mild as you want, depending on which salsa you use. 4 cans black beans drained 2 cups salsa 1-2 cups broth (chicken or veggie) Heat the broth and salsa for a few minutes. (I often puree my salsa so the kids don't see chunks of veggies) Add the beans. Sometimes I will puree some of the beans to thicken it up. You can add more water if desired. Cook til heated through. I also like to add browned ground beef to this. Serve with nachos or chips and guacamole. very nice!

This is my Grandma's Calico Bean recipe. You could change the beans to your liking. Calico Beans Mix together and brown the following: ½ Lb Hamburger ½ Lb Bacon ½ Cup Onion Also needed: ½ Cup Brown Sugar 1 TBSP Vinegar ½ Cup Ketchup (or Catsup) 1 TSP of Mustard 1 Can of Lima Beans or Butter Beans (drain half of the juice off). 1 Can or Pork and Beans 1 Can of Kidney Beans Combine all ingredients after proper preparation and bake @ 350 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes.
