Friendly Places

United States

I went back to my first grade writing prompts and one was titled Friendly Places. Today, we went by McDonalds to get my two year old grandson some fries. He must eat a lot of salt for a kidney condition he was born with. I went through the drive thru, and the two people that took my money and gave me my food, helped me to realize that this McDonalds isn't a very friendly place. No greetings, not a thank you, only attitudes of wishing they were somewhere else. I like friendly places, and not places like this. My daughter said that they work at McDonalds, I shouldn't expect more, but I do. https://pixabay.com/photos/mcdonalds-ronald-joker-heath-ledger-2227657/

That's too bad. Customer service isn't what is it used to be.

@misunderstood_zombie true. Companies need to pay better wages for people to go back to work.

I agree, but now employers are just happy to find workers.

I have not been in awhile but they were all friendly to me. Just depends on where you go I guess. That is too bad.

I guess with the shortage of workers they may be glad to get anyone at all.

@misunderstood_zombie There should not be a shortage of workers for what they are paying.

I always take notice of those unfriendly staff. And I complain or just stay away from such.

I hardly complain, but I have in the past.

Compared to that some places I see are shamelessly rude.

It's a shame. I always treat others the way I want to be treated, but some people just don't care.

It is a shame that the McDonald's you went to is not friendly.

It's OK. I only wrote about because of the writing prompt. I just think we should all be so nice to each other.

@misunderstood_zombie I agree with you since it is better to be kind and nice instead of being to one another.

Although it would be nice to see workers be more kind, they also have to go through a lot and also not get paid very much for the stuff they have to go through. Unless an employee is genuinely rude to me (calling names, ignoring me, etc) I will never pay mind to someone who doesn't give a greeting, because I have no idea what they are going through. Did they just have a bad customer? Is something happening in their family? Are they able to pay bills and food with their horrible minimum wage job? Their minds could be distracted by something else and just slip up, they are not robots, they are humans. I will still say thank you and wish them a good day, regardless of how they treated me, because I think we have all be in the case of working for something or someone and hating every minute of it.

I understand what you are saying. My adult children work around food, and people can be so harsh, but they always try to treat their customers nice. I wouldn't have even thought about it again, but a writing prompt brought this to my mind. I agree we should always treat others kindly no matter how they are acting and think about what type of day they're having. Thank you writing all of that.

Wow, I can't believe how much somethings are. Wage increase isn't going to help when greed runs the show.

They should have been smiling at work. It’s in the manual
