Hartford police officer saves male teen from taking his own life

Hartford Park Ranger Rich Calderon is being praised on social media for his act of bravery of answering an emergency call on Wednesday evening where a male teen was on the Founders Bridge standing on the ledge ready to jump off and end his life due to mental health issues. Officer Calderon who was working at a gala event at the Mortenson Riverfront Plaza on Wednesday evening when he answered the call for help. Officer Calderon had help from an off duty Hartford Police Officer and another teen to be able to talk the would be suicide teen to change his mind and seek help for his mental health problems. The good news is that the teen who wanted to end his own life is making a recovery thanks to the two police officers and the other teen who assisted them to save a life.
