Day 118 2 Chronicles 6:34 If thy people go out to war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name; 35 Then hear thou from the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause. 36 If they sin against thee, (for there is no man which sins not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them over before their enemies, and they carry them away captives unto a land far off or near; 37 Yet if they bethink themselves in the land whither they are carried captive, and turn and pray unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done amiss, and have dealt wickedly; 38 If they return to thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, whither they have carried them captives, and pray toward their land, which thou gave unto their fathers, and toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house which I have built for thy name: 39 Then hear thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, their prayer, and their supplications, and maintain their cause, and forgive thy people which have sinned against thee. 40 Now, my God, let, I beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be attentive unto the prayer that is made in this place. 41 Now, therefore, arise, O LORD God, into thy resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness. 42 O LORD God, turn not away the face of thine anointed: remember the mercies of David thy servant. War is an inevitable fact of life. People are encouraged to pray for the brave men and women who stand in harm’s way fighting for their country. Solomon not only prayed for those sent to war, he asked God to listen to the prayers of those sent into battle. He also prayed for God to listen to the prayers of those captured by their enemies because of their sin against God when they returned to Him with all their heart, soul, and mind. Solomon concluded his prayer with a supplication for God to hear all the prayers made in and toward the temple. He prayed for the priests who would minister in the temple to be clothed in salvation. He prayed for the saints, God’s chosen people. He asked God not to turn His face away from the temple he built for Him. As Christians, war doesn’t take place only on the battlefield, but also in everyday life. Satan wars against you to cause you to waver in your faith and turn your back on God. When you become complacent to the world, accepting what you see and hear as normal and commonplace, then you need to realize Satan’s scheme and come against him. Now is not the time of complacency in the body of Christ. You need to seek God and ask Him to keep His promise to defend you against Satan and his attack on your life and your faith. When He does, don’t forget to praise Him. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for going before me into battle and defending me when Satan comes against me. Let my voice come before You in prayer and praise. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 8 October 2021 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay.
