I once had a pet dog. I named him Piper. He was a stray, sickly puppy that I nurtured back to life painstakingly. When he was 6 months old, I got sick and was rushed to the hospital. He was left alone at home, forgotten, as everyone was worried sick about me. After 3 long days at the hospital, I was allowed to go home. There at the front door, was Piper guarding the house like a loyal and true friend. It was then that I remembered having left him without asking someone to feed him. I was so touched by his loyalty that I cried. He survived and had not left the house. When he died due to old age, I cried all the more for him. I had previously laughed at pet owners who cried when their pets died but on Piper's deathbed, I now understood how they have felt. Did you ever experience this happening?
