Day 132 Nehemiah 4:3 Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, “Even that which they build, if a fox goes up, he shall even break down their stone wall.” 4 Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity: 5 And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders. What do you do when people come against your work, making fun of it and laughing you to scorn? Nehemiah and the people of Jerusalem began to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. As they did, the people of the land mocked them and the work they did. Instead of replying to them, Nehemiah prayed for God to take action against them. As Christians, people come against you, laughing at you for being a Christian. Especially those who knew you before you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Their intent is to destroy your faith and cause you to reject what God did in your life through His Son, Jesus. Your enemy isn’t the people who come against you. Your enemy is Satan who puts people in your way to destroy your work. Nehemiah didn’t answer the people who came against him and the work God called him to do. He prayed for God to take care of them. He knew the enemy. You know your enemy. Let God take care of those who come against His work in your life. John 10:10 The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Jesus promises abundant life. Satan wants to steal your life. Don’t let him. Pray and ask God to fight for you and destroy their intentions. Let’s pray: Father, when Satan comes against me to destroy my faith and the work You set for me, stand by me and protect me from his barbs and lies. Strengthen my hands for the work.
