Alas, my eating days are over!
Or I thought it was.
The lab results I had last week ain't very favorable. My wayward consumption of whatever is palatable has got to stop. Too much unhealthy food!
So I picked this salad bowl at the deli for my lunch meal yesterday. Enjoyed it very much. Realized I wouldn't have to worry about choices because there are lots of healthy options to pick from.
Yum!

I love salads. I admire your great command of the English word. Your word construction is just so good. I wish I had that so I had a better chance with blogging or freelance writing.
I know that I only have a few years for "wayward consumption of whatever palatable" as you said.

Thank you. That is a very kind compliment.
Your writing is all right. Just add a little bit more figure of speech.

@eileenleyva Ha ha I know. It takes a creative mind. But I'll try to learn. Thank you.
You deserve the compliment.

@yoalldudes Creative writing actually takes practice. As my Jesuit of a teacher Fr. Joseph Galdon said, 'write in intense heat and slash in cold blood.' Just write what comes to mind and edit later.
Poets are exceptional creatures. Not all of us could be poets. But we could write simple poetry.

Thanks. That is true. Healthy options are just right under our noses. In fact, I checked on my garden this morning and found a bunch of pechay leaves. Yay.

Same here my bp has rose these past few days and my doctor has prescribed some medication for me to take for three months to see if my bp would stabilize. If not then I’ll have them for life as maintenance medicine. I think now that I have reached tjis age my health is starting to crumble.

@eileenleyva Will see in the coming days the BP has so far normalized with the medications. Although I am not a fitness buff admittedly Haha... I am slowing down my diet as well we will see by January what would be the verdict after I have another round of tests again to see how my body reacted to the medicines. I guess my work is also getting me stressed these past few months. There seems to be a lot of things to do but very little resources to rely on that is why stress on me has been catching up.

@rsa101 Yup, stress is a killer so I advise deleting the word from one's system. Try not to worry much about the resources and have faith that our God will provide what we need.
Remember the widow whose jar miraculously filled during the long famine because she had faith to feed a stranger named Elijah, a prophet, who asked for a meal. She willingly offered her last dough and her jar never ran out. Have faith. God will keep you through this trying times if you ask Him fervently.

Oh no!
The blood pressure rises if one lives a sedentary lifestyle. Put on the sneakers and brisk walk at least thirty minutes a day twice or thrice a week. That's the prescription many of my friends were ever given, plus of course, eradicating the pork and beef and everything unhealthy in the diet.
Ask for a second opinion. I consulted a cardiologist Thursday via teleconsult and thought I was talking to an ugly squawk. No offense to the bird. But I couldn't believe the supposed to be cardiologist who was already scheduling another teleconsult that costs over a thousand pesos in two weeks without yet prescribing me anything. Grrrr.
What I simply mean is seek another doctor. Perhaps all you need is a workout.

Sometimes it does come to that before we realize we had been abusing our physical selves with unhealthy food.
Veggies is good nourishment. Am moving in that direction also.
Do hope you are completely healed now.

@Nawsheen That is good news.
Am pretty serious with my intake now that I even got a notebook where I jot down all the food and drinks I consume each day. Am on day 3 logging my nourishment.

Getting sick is actually a 'warning' about how we often neglect our own selves health-wise. We tend to neglect caring for our physical health because we believe our bodies are capable of enduring strenuous activities and junk food.
Let us try and get proper nourishment now. We only have one body and one life.

Let us pray it doesn't happen that way. Devise a health plan now - for the self and the family - even before you get your executive check. Healthy living is always a good thing.

@rakski Did hear of a lady surgeon say she had taken the rice away from the whole family, including her mother with dementia and brother with special needs because the diabetes has already caused much sorrow and grief to them. So, for three years now, the rice cooker has been rendered useless but the family is fit and healthy.
We really should plan for the whole family.

@maezee Jotted down on my food diary today are papaya and two toast for breakfast, fresh spring rolls for lunch, air fried potatoes for snacks, and tamarind based vegetable for supper.
Thanks for reminding that some days could be difficult. I'd remember our resolve to stay healthy.
Best wishes to you to on your journey to healthy living.

Do away with junk because you will surely regret it. The organs of the body can only take a certain amount of abuse.

A condition I could have avoided had I not been a voracious eater in the past. I loved to eat plenty like I always had an insatiable desire to taste and munch everything I see. Especially at the eat-all-you-can!
Now I have to suffer the consequences of my grotesque eating habit.
Just happy there are healthy diet foods that can still satisfy the palate.
Must psyche the mind to grow old gracefully. I think we can do it gradually.

@eileenleyva But the strange thing is, I am only avoiding lots of meat, salt, sugar and dairy and soy.
Other than that, I mostly eat what I like.
I love mashed potatoes

@RebeccasFarm Am still in the process of determining what food to retain and what food to totally do away with. The white rice could be turned to brown/red/black but am not really up to it. Might as well not eat rice at all. Wheat bread is suggested and that sounds more palatable.
I am for mashed potatoes. I have a bowl right now in my fridge.

Sometimes we learn it the hard way that our bodies have suffered enough from poor nourishment. It is good to change the eating habits. Fresh green salad could provide the vitamins needed to reenergize the body. Let's eat healthy.

That is exactly what my daughter said. You are absolutely correct.
The problem is me. My mind just refuses to check on the contents that is in my food. Should be less salt, less oil, etc. Sigh.
But am bent on really being cautious about my intake. It's now or I'd simply never ever going to get totally well.
Thank you.
