It almost
Broke me
Shook me
To the core
Nineteen,
Life was free
Full of possibilities
And then
A darker reality
Came knocking
On my door.
Family friends
Murdered
Like something
Out of a movie
But this was real.
What kind of
Monster
Kills a
Father
And his
Twelve year
Old son
A world of
Dreams
And possibilities
Cut down to
Soon.
Tragedy
Has a way
Of playing
Through our
Minds
Even more
True
With brutality
The would have
Could have
Should have’s
Play like a record
Stuck on
Repeat.
It almost
Broke me
Shook me
To the core.
