Hindu festival of diwali is a 5 day festival. The day when 14 diyas are lit called chaturdashi on that day the first diya which is lit is the conch diya. Conch is played to start any religious festival in India. The terracota artists create the diya in the shape of a sea conch with white effect. In India we call it shankha.

We also do the 14 diya and 14 shaag (leafy vegetables). But we don't use these conch diyas. Infact, i'm seeing them for the first time. But they look beautiful.
