Nursing student Brynn Easton's overachieving nature makes giving God control over her goals, dreams and compulsive lists a constant challenge, but she's trying. Between school, her increasingly absentee but otherwise perfect boyfriend Caleb, and a childcare job she adores, her full life feels on track. But then she gets to know the charming single father of a little boy who's stolen her heart. After the birth of his son, Josh Davis rededicated himself to Christ and has worked hard to get his life together. He's avoiding dating, but adorable Brynn draws him in like no one else. Problem is, he can't find the nerve to get beyond the friend zone. And she's probably too good for him. Can they move beyond past choices and pain and figure out what it truly means to walk in God's will for their lives - especially when finding love and forever doesn't look like they think it should? ~~~~ This is, obviously, a Christian Romance novel (though listed as contemporary romance). Because of the religious aspect to these novels I find the characters more relatable. The stories seem more real. In an adorable, sweet romance, there are messages and lessons to be learned. Brynn has a list of what "The One" would be like, and a list of exactly how her life would go on a perfect timeline. But she soon realizes that God will lead her. Josh has a checkered past and is not sure he can live up to Brynn's "requirements". But bible quotes sprinkled throughout the story bring attention to God's will and open our characters' eyes. I really like these stories. This is book one in the series. I earlier posted book 3 - What Makes A Home. These are good clean stories with what I think are important messages. I want to pass this along to my 25 year old to read but my girls seem to be more taken in to reality television than reading books these days. So whether you are beginning your adult life, or in the middle of it, this book is a must read for believers. (I will not even suggest that these stories will convert non-believers. They are not that potent.) I am looking forward to book 2, as well as checking out Christian Romance written by other authors. 4 out of 5 stars (and for those who question my ratings... 5 stars really have to wow me). I hope you'll consider reading these books.
