Oh crap! It's the first of NOVEMBER!!! How can it be November already! The year is almost over. It's time to start going through Christmas stuff and maybe getting it up. A few friends are already taking down Halloween. We'll be going through what we have today, I think. Gotta see what works and what doesn't. The weekend was pretty decent, I guess. Friday, hubby got off mad early so we ended up doing a lot of running and some grocery shopping. Spent the rest of the day out so I didn't get to bake for our friend's Halloween party. Saturday we got up at 5 am to do the baking for the party. We were supposed to have a training at ten so we had to be sure we would be done. Hence the early start to the day. We got the baking done and we got to the station holding the training but no one showed up. We're pretty sure they canceled and didn't tell anyone. When we got home we ended up taking a nap. We were exhausted. We got to the Halloween party and were only there for maybe an hour or two then we had to go. We got a call. That's what we get for talking about the department while at a party. It was like a jinx. We got canceled but instead of going home we went over another friend's house. They were giving out candy and we stayed over until about midnight. It was a lot of fun. Yesterday was football so it was awesome to just chill. I got the text yesterday morning that I'm now set up to go to Live Burn in December. It's crazy but I'm excited to get it over with and in decent weather. When hubby went he had to do everything in the heat. The last heat of summer, I get to go in the relative cold. Today I get to play catch up though. I have a lot of computer work to do. The last time I went to Readers on the River I prided myself that I didn't really use hubby's paycheck for the books and stuff that I bought. I paid for it all from paypal which would be the money that I earn. I want to try and keep it that way this time too. I also need to fold laundry and vacuum. We're getting the back door replaced today. Mad early, 8am. It's fine for me but they don't get up until 7-8am anymore. Either way, there's a lot that will be done today and I'm excited lol. I don't know why, it's not like anything is happening immediately, I still have to wait but I really am excited. I'll be watching Charlie Brown's Halloween today too. I can't end October without watching it. There's just something not right about it. What is everyone else up to?

We don't celebrate Halloween but we commemorate today as All Saints Day. Like you, the first of November had been a super tiring day but am not complaining. All the errands and the chores fill the day with busyness worth doing. Tomorrow, the 2nd of November, we commemorate All Souls Day.

@eileenleyva I love horror movies but when it came to costumes I was always the princess or like Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I like simple lol. They really do take it seriously and I just think it's one of the best traditions.

@JordanLader Hallow means Holy, as in the Lord's Prayer. We do believe that that is where halloween was derived as we honor the saints and pray for the souls in purgatory. Trick or treat is a cute American tradition minus the gory costumes that scare the children. My nephews enjoyed receiving chocolate candies when they were small. Their turn to give candy bars when they grew up. Usually, when there were not much trick or treat participants, the chocolates and candies are shipped to me via a Christmas box. I, in turn, give the sweets to the orphans.

@eileenleyva There are a lot of different legends and names for Halloween. I'm not sure how we got to the trick or treating, costume Halloween though.

@JordanLader I found a couple off inflatable turkeys at Menards a couple of years ago. They do carry a few Thanksgiving day things.

I don't have anything for Thanksgiving. Everything we buy though in November goes toward Christmas so the tree goes up early. Usually the week of Thanksgiving but I'm starting early this year lol

Definitely sounds like you guys had a busy weekend. I can't complain about our weekend. It was fun. Now it's back at work for me, and back to school for the kids.
