Day 153 Psalm 8:1 (To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David.) O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! Who hast set thy glory above the heavens. 2 Out of the mouth of babes and suckling’s hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou might still the enemy and the avenger. 3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visit him? 5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor. 6 Thou made him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: 7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; 8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passes through the paths of the seas. 9 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! What makes you smile so much that people automatically smile when they see you? Nothing and no one can put a dent in your smile. David worshiped God in a moment of high praise. You can feel his joy as he penned this psalm. It could have been one of many battles against his enemies God brought him through. David credited God with every victory. As Christians, God brings you through many battles. Do you give God credit for your victories? Do you praise Him when God answers your prayers? Every day is a day of prayer and praise. When you wake and see the sunrise, praise Him. When you come to the end of your day, praise Him. When things don’t go well, praise Him. He has something better planned for you. It’s easy to look at the down side of life. It’s easy to be negative when life throws curve balls and slams you into the ground. David could have wallowed in self-pity and negativity with every situation that came his way. Instead, he encouraged himself in the Lord and praised Him. We don’t know why he penned this prayer of praise. We know he didn’t let his enemies get the upper hand. He rejoiced and praised God even when nothing went right. Do you face uncertain situations? Has Satan come against you and you can’t see a way out? Praise God. He will bring about a victory when everything looks hopeless. Don’t let Satan get the upper hand. Praise God and watch Him bring victory into your life. Praise destroys Satan’s plans. Let’s pray: Father, too often I allow situations to overwhelm me. Help me praise You when Satan wants to destroy me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 12 November 2021 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
