The picture here is almost a 'SPOILER' (if you know who/what it's a picture-of). The series starts with a drunk-driver having just caused the death of a pedestrian, changes scene to his sentencing in court, then to his night in jail (as we are to suppose ALL his nights are now)---unable to put the image of the dead girl out of his mind. On his parole (in 5 or 10 years), he moves back to Crockett Island. https://midnight-mass.fandom.com/wiki/Crockett_Island And we spend two-or-three hour-long episodes getting to know the residents of the island ... with little hints (only a few) of anything supernatural happening. I admit, I started watching MIDNIGHT MASS expecting another LUCIFER (with a supernatural being just 'deciding' to pop down to reality & doing supernatural hijinks). And it's not that. It's more like *DRACULA UNTOLD* (I think the movie was), where the vampire is more like 'a beast that lives in a cave---a beast which gives its victims eternal life (with the curse of The Thirst). I don't know---I've only seen a hint of the pastor's 'vampire-hood' (his seeming to die of 'consumption' in one instant & popping right back up as if nothing happened the next). I'm just saying that you shouldn't go into this NETFLIX-series expecting hard-hitting action right-off-the-bat. But it looks like it'll be good to see how these small-town folks handle the wild horror to come

This ... isn't the kind of sci-fi you'd subscribe to netflix for. One: it's more 'fantasy' than 'sci-fi'---supernatural themed rather than future technology. And the exact storyline ... it's more like 'a big incident in a small town' than anything "epic"
