Being alone for Thanksgiving.

United States
November 15, 2021 8:28pm CST
As of right now; it looks like I am going to be alone for Thanksgiving again this year. I wish I lived closer to my brother in Oregon to where we could celebrate Thanksgiving together. I am thinking about calling my brother on Thanksgiving though. I do have several cousins around where I live, but they have their own families to celebrate Thanksgiving with. They know that I am going to spend Thanksgiving alone, but they still don't invite me over.

I am very sorry you are being treated this way. Some people are very insensitive.

That's a bummer. Could you do something like volunteer to serve at soup kitchen or something? That way you won't be alone, and you will be doing something good too. I have thought about doing stuff like that before but basically in terms of the major holidays they seem to have all that stuff covered, but it is worth a try.

@Scrapper88 I don't have a problem driving when I want to do something. It all depends on your motivation I guess.

The closest soup kitchen that I know about is around 50 miles away.

I am sorry the cousins do not invite you over. If you called them would they think to do so? Or is that not possible..I understand if so. Yes at least call your brother. If you were near, you would be welcome here, I know I said that before, but..we are not even having turkey this year

@Scrapper88 True turkey is not necessary for sure. I wonder if you call them would they say come over. Do they have big Thanksgivings?

I see a few of my cousins on a regular basis. They never bring it up. Somebody does not need turkey to celebrate Thanksgiving.

I don't know what to say Keith. Obviously my.heart goes out to you about being alone. But what else I can add, not sure. One thing is certain though You can indeed choose your friends But not.your family

I'm so sorry for you. You cousins could have invited you. Do you live very far from your brother?

I've had Thanksgiving and Christmas all to my lonesome, my girls away on duty. But I find my own company endearing. Ha Ha Ha. I realized I am not so bad to please. Let go of the invites. Find your self where you belong. You can even spell the difference to someone lonelier.

Maybe you can just ask one if you can join them, and that youd bring a dish or dessert?

I’m sorry. I will most likely be alone We usually have Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner at my sons house but I don’t know about this year. For myself I don’t care to celebrate anywhere.
