Day 164 Psalm 28:1 (A Psalm of David.) Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them who go down into the pit. 2 Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy sanctuary. 3 Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts. 4 Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavors: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their due reward. 5 Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up. 6 Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications. 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore, my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song will I praise him. 8 The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed. 9 Save thy people and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up forever. Everyone wants to be heard. They don’t want to go unnoticed. Children want their parents to hear them. Employees want their supervisors and employers to hear them. Spouses want their mates to hear them. David wanted God to hear him when he prayed. He didn’t want God to pass him over as someone who didn’t trust in Him. He also asked God to give those who didn’t trust Him their just reward. David then turned the prayer around to praise God for hearing him and asked God to bless His inheritance, His chosen people. As Christians, sometimes it seems as though God is far away and He doesn’t hear your prayers. It can seem like blessings fall on those who don’t deserve them. David reminded God that he trusted in Him and wanted His blessing on his life. You can remind God that you belong to Him, that you trust Him and rely on Him to keep you safe from trouble. When you remind God that you are His, praise God for answering your prayer. Let’s pray: Father, You hear me when I pray, even when it doesn’t seem like it. Help me praise You for hearing me and coming to my rescue when trouble comes my way. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 23 November 2021 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay.
