Alrighty, it’s time to finally get off my rear end and post about my younger sister’s wedding day. :) It’s been a bit since the last post in my little five-day weekend series, so I’ll attach the previous post to the bottom of this one. This is going to be a long post, so you've been warned.
So, my sister and I got up early, like between 6am-6:30am. I had showered the night before, so that was one less thing to do that morning. Instead, I flipped through the TV in the hotel and found Halloween 4. I mean, doesn’t everyone watch Michael Myers in the morning of an important event lol? Anyway, I watched that and threw on some sweatpants and my Maid of Dishonor (I was the Maid of Honor, but it’s Haunted Mansion themed lol) while my sister finished up some last-minute seating arrangements. We weren’t getting dressed for the wedding until later, obviously.
We got about an hour or so into the movie before it was time to go, which wasn’t a big deal because I own it and it was only on to kill time. Sooo, we stopped by Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin Robbins (where she got me some sweet mocha drink), and then we hit the road to her sister-in-law’s house, which wasn’t too far from the hotel.
Once we got to her house, we helped set up, ate breakfast and did other last-minute preps. Once the rest of the bridal party arrived, we did the rehearsal that couldn’t be done the evening before. It only took about 10 minutes, but the weather was insane the evening before, so it just wasn’t going to happen. Don’t worry, my sister wasn’t in her wedding dress yet. Everyone made sure my brother-in-law didn’t see her in her wedding dress until she walked down the aisle (I don’t know how it is outside of the US, but here, he’s not supposed to see the dress at all before the wedding. We had to break the tradition of not seeing her at all that morning because of the weather).
So, after that, we separated the bridal parties. The bride and bridesmaids got dressed in the basement (it’s a nice, finished basement with a bedroom and bathroom), and the groom and groomsmen got ready upstairs. Also, the guests started to arrive.
My Aunt (Mom’s sister/best friend) came downstairs to see my younger sister and burst into tears. She told her that our Mom would’ve been so proud, and Dad would’ve been too. I did assure that my Mom had seen my sister in her dress (which she did when she tried it on at my brother’s house back in April), and I think that helped.
We took some pictures downstairs for the photographer and my nieces (one who had a photography camera, another with a phone) while we waited for this person or that person to get ready. Eventually, it was time to get the show on the road.
I walked down with my 28yr old nephew (oldest brother’s son), as he’s close with my brother-in-law (actually, he gets along great with both of my brother-in-laws), so he was the best man. There were also three “In Memory” chairs at the front (with “In Memory” signs on them). Two were for my parents, and one was for our friend who had passed away in Oct. 2017; he was my sister’s best guy friend (fiance excluded lol); like a brother to her. So it was a way to honor and remember all three of them.
I think the ceremony went well, and my younger sister looked so beautiful. Everyone looked amazing. After the ceremony, we went around to the front to take pictures, then back to the backyard for the wedding party introductions and then we mingled for a while.
So, there was a bump in the road. My brother-in-law’s (groom) Grandfather took a tumble down the basement stairs. He had his sunglasses on, and is diabetic (so he was looking for something for that), and took a wrong turn. :( So, everyone stopped, called an ambulance and comforted the kiddos on the groom’s side (I know how they feel, thinking of when my Mom fell back in April). He broke a bunch of ribs and is doing physical therapy, but he’s hanging in there.
My sister eventually had our friend (the DJ) put the music back on for the kiddos. Eventually, once he was taken out on a stretcher (but still conscious, I believe), the reception did continue. My sister and brother-in-law danced to “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley. They’ve been together since 2006, so this was fitting for them. :) If you don’t know the song, here it is on YouTube:

Outside of the bump in the road, the reception was still fun. There was a lot of dancing, eating, pictures, chatting, laughing, etc. Something we all needed, especially since the last time I saw a lot of these people was my Momma’s funeral. By the way, you could feel my Momma’s energy missing, as she LOVED to dance and would’ve been on that dance floor (while Daddy would’ve mingled and ate, aside from the slow dances). I’m glad she saw my sister’s wedding dress and knew their wedding song was by Elvis (she LOVED Elvis). We still did what we could to have a good time, and I love how well both sides of the family get along. :)
After the wedding and clean-up, I left with my best friend. We made a pit stop and then she dropped me off at my house. Once I got home, I unpacked from the hotel, fed the dogs and relaxed until I was ready to fall asleep.
So, for the most part, it was a great day, and I hope my sister/brother-in-law’s Grandfather makes a full recovery.
The next (and final) post of this little series will be about Halloween, which was the next day (duh, lol). I’m going to wrap this up and get back to my work, plus Chucky is coming on in a few minutes. Take care. :)

Oh no that's terrible he fell. I hope he'll be okay.
Glad there weren't any other issues that day.
Very nice to add the in memory chairs. Though it is different. (I'd do it if I had a recent or important loss before it too)

He's hanging in there. I hope he'll be okay and fully recover too.
Thank you so much.
I'm not sure if others have done that or not. I don't even know if I'd have a big wedding these days, what with my parents gone and how stressful it is to plan them. I'd probably do a courthouse wedding for super close people and a party for everyone.
