Hi! Today is day 2 of my 14 day spending detox - zero spending besides bills, 1 car wash (originally I said 2, but now I say 1 car wash should do it), gas, and groceries. Groceries I am going to do my best to scale down recipes and spend, truly, as little as possible on. I am trying to help myself save some money but also take a step back from BUYING BUYING BUYING! I have been constantly buying things - consuming - over the past couple months, and in the past, when I've taken a "break" from almost all buying - it: *makes me more aware of my poor spending habits *makes me much more careful with my money *gives me more time to go through items, declutter, downsize, donate, but also take time to use what I've got *frees up mental space when I'm not thinking about shopping lists or what I will buy next or browsing online for sales *downsizing/decluttering/donating clears up mental space also Day 2: Money spent on anything: $0.00 Temptations: Starbucks before work (saved ~$6-7 with tip) - DENIED! Things I did instead of shopping/spending today: *2.6 mile run (on the treadmill) *worked 2pm-230am *eating leftovers from work potluck *went through a few of my clothes and makeup items and donated a few items I will probably continue to document every couple of days. I think my working days will be easiest, because like today - I work 12 1/2 hours - and don't have that much down time. But for example on my day off on Tuesday and Wednesday, it will definitely be more challenging I think. How is your week going?

Great! I am going to start a survey or two on InboxDollars in a few minutes...For some reason I've had a lot of luck on qualifying for surveys there lately, it's unusual - lol

I wish my daughter could decide to do that. She doesn't even know how to make one trip to save gas. I give her tips always to save money but she always has an excuse for not taking my advice.

Such Detox is very much needed at times. Yet even if I try to cut back on spendings and be more rational, other family members' needs - more or less justified come into play. I try to buy more on offers and plan to hold back on eating Pizzas for some time as they can be very costly. The challenge is to hold back on essential ones like Dry Clean after a long time.
