Day 174 Psalm 42 6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore, will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. 7 Deep calls unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. 8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life. Where do you place your hope? Do you wallow in despair and hopelessness? Korah is the author of this psalm. He felt despair and hopelessness in his everyday life. Yet, when he contemplated his life, he put his hope in God to sustain him. As Christians, you need to do the same. It does no good to wallow in despair and hopelessness. It only leads to depression. You need to do what Korah did and question why you find yourself in despair and seek God, the sustainer of your life. When you do, you will realize you do not need to despair. God gives hope in hopeless situations. He brings joy when there is no reason for joy. When you pray and turn over your situation to God, He will turn your mourning into dancing and your sadness into joy. Let’s pray: Father, turn my mourning into joy as I seek You when life crashes down around me. Help me remember to turn to You and not let circumstances cloud my vision. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
