Blood tests can be scary... but not really

Some people are aftraid of needles and that's understandable. Who would want to be pierced in his/her arm or leg?
As soon as they see the needle, they are scared and would not proceed with the test. I once witnessed a man ran away from the phlebotomy table right before the blood extraction.
But it's not really painful if the phelobotomist (blood extractor) is competent or well-versed with the procedure. You would not feel a thing until the end of the procedure.
And that's true.
However, blood extraction hurts when:
The extractor didn't hit the vein properly (out of vein, improper needle insertion)
and when the needle has been used twice (in case of steel needles).
But with a good phlebotomist, and brand new equipmennt - there is NO pain.
So, for those who fear needles, choose your phelobotomist wisely and you'd escape unscathed.
Do you fear needles? What did you do?

@xFiacre I was also surprised how quick and painless the COVID vaccines was. I didn't look, but just I felt something pressed against my arm for one second. Whereas, on blood extractions, I can feel the actual pinprick.

I used to fear needles so much I'd faint.
But I was taking a medication that's hard on the liver I had to do blood tests every 2 months. The girl who used to take my blood had very gentle hands. I was scared at first but then I got used to it. Unfortunately lately she was replaced. I've tried 3 people and they all hurt me when they're taking blood. Fortunately I stopped taking medication and I don't need to do blood tests that often.
