Hi guys,
Hope you all are doing good. I am doing good too. As most of you know that I have a sweet tooth. I like everything sweet.
There are a wide variety of traditional Indian Desserts available in different cities, areas and states of India.
One such very popular Traditional Indian Dessert is Mysore Pak. It is an Indian Sweet prepared using lot of Ghee. The ingredients are generous amount of Ghee, Sugar, Gram Flour and often Cardamom.
The texture of this sweet is similar to a buttery and dense cookie. It originated in the city of Mysuru, one of the major cities in the Indian State of Karnataka.
The story behind the invention of this dish is very interesting. It was invented in 1935.
This is when there was a ruler
named Maharaja of Mysore, Krishna Raj Wodeyar fourth, was a food lover. He use to have large kitchen at the Amba Villas Palace in Mysore making cuisines from European to Prasadam in the temples.
This sweet was made by his chief chef Kakasura Madappa. With time running out, the desperate Madappa began experimenting wanting to present the king with something unusual. He started adding Gram Flour, sugar and a lot of ghee. Thus he made a soft mixture(pak).
When it was presented to the Maharaja in a thali. The chef was called in and was asked the name of the dish. The first thing that came to his mind was "Mysore Pak".
It's still a very popular Traditional Indian dessert till now available in authentic form in Mysore, Karnataka.
Many people make it at home too as it's recipe is very simple. This sweet is majorly served in Indian functions especially in Weddings.
I haven't had the opportunity to try the authentic one of Mysore. I wish to try it soon though.
Share your thoughts about it. Have a great day. Take care!!!
