Define friend.
One who surprises you with a bag of goodies early in the morning on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
I was still on my white night shirt and cotton pantylet when the messenger showed a red notification dot. A grab is on the way for me. There was a fiasco last night which I apparently missed the delivery of because I was sound asleep. My friend Perlie wanted to make sure I was awake and would be home before she rebooked my grab delivery.
Half-an-hour later, a Christmas feast that includes fiesta ham, queso de bola, and bibingka laid on my table. There were also two boxes of perfumes for my daughters.
That's the meaning of friend - one who surprises you with your favorite Noche Buena items two weeks before Christmas.
Sliced the queso right away and ate a cassava-like bibingka or rice cake. 'twas a breakfast that brings warmth and joy with every bite.

We met in school while waiting to fetch our daughters from Philippine Science High School. Fifteen years of friendship now. She is very sincere. I am blessed.

Very good feeling it was, to receive my favorite Noche Buena food.
The bibingka is Misa de Gallo street food item. People who attend the nine-day dawn Masses popularly known as the Masses celebrated when the rooster crows, buy the still steaming hot rice cake on their way home.
Here's the rice cake with cheese toppings.
