Day 183
Psalm 64:1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:
3 Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:
4 That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?
6 They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.
7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.
8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.
9 And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.
10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory. (KJV)
Nobody likes it when someone says bad things about them or the people they love. They want to take vengeance on them.
David had many enemies who spoke evil about him. He didn’t take vengeance, but went to God in prayer. He asked God to take care of his enemies in the only way God could. David presented the situation to God and expected Him to make it right.
As Christians, do you take your problems to God or to social media? Do you decide how to handle those who slandered you or your family and friends? Often people want to handle their own problems, believing God has better things to do than to take care of trifling conflicts. Yet, God doesn’t see trifling conflicts. He sees people coming against His children; children He promised to protect.
David brought every matter to God. It didn’t matter how big or small the situation; he knew God could and would take care of it. He knew God’s promises of protection and relied on them when his enemies made threats against him.
Do you rely on God to protect you from your enemies? Do you spend time in prayer laying out the problem? Or do you take matters into your own hands? It’s time to trust God with the little stuff in your lives, not only the big stuff you can’t control. Give it to God. Trust Him and watch him take care of you.
Psalm 20:6 Now know I that the LORD saves his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
God will always fight for you, protect you, and bring you through every trouble.
Let’s pray: Father, help me trust You to take care of my problems, knowing there is nothing too great or small for You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
