Day 188
Psalm 71:1 In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be put to confusion.
2 Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape; incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
3 Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort; thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
5 For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD; thou art my trust from my youth.
6 By thee have I been upheld up from the womb; thou art he who took me out of my mother’s bowels; my praise shall be continually of thee.
7 I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.
8 Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honor all the day.
9 Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength fails.
10 For my enemies speak against me; and they who lay wait for my soul take counsel together,
11 Saying, God hath forsaken him; persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.
12 O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste for my help.
13 Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonor who seek my hurt.
14 But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.
15 My mouth shall show forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.
16 I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth; and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
18 Now also when I am old and gray-headed, O God, forsake me not; until I have showed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one who is to come.
19 Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things; O God, who is like unto thee!
20 Thou, which hast showed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
21 Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.
22 I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God; unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.
23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
24 My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long; for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, who seek my hurt.
When you spend much time with someone, you can talk to them about anything. You can lay out your plans for your future and how you will always be there to help when they need you. It’s what friends do; they stand by your side and have your back.
David spent much time with God. He talked to Him, praised Him, laid out his plans on how he would never let God down, and trusted in Him. In the same way, he knew what God would do for him.
As Christians, most often you are afraid to lay out your plans with God. You know what you want, but you rarely discuss your plans. It takes an emergency for you to talk to God. One form of prayer is conversation, talking with God. Letting Him know your heart’s desires, your fears, your joys, and how you plan to spend your life getting closer to Him.
God started the conversation with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. He let them know they could come to Him for everything. David depended on God. He talked to Him about everything, trouble with his enemies, trouble with friends, trouble in his household. David praised God for His faithfulness and how he trusted Him to help him against his enemies and all those who came against him.
When was the last time you held a conversation with God? When did you lay out your plans and desires? God knows your heart better than you. He knows your worries and fears. God wants you to voice your concerns, your worries, fears, triumphs. He wants you to treat Him as your best friend. When something happens in your life, you tell your friends every detail. Do the same with God. Give Him every detail. Let Him know you care enough about your relationship with Him, you want to get to know Him. You can only know God’s heart by reading His Word and spending time in prayer. Talk to Him. He’s waiting to hear from you.
Let’s pray: Father, You know everything about me, yet I fail to talk to You and spend time in Your presence. I want to know You, Lord. I want a close relationship with You so that I know Your heart as much as You know mine. I want to laugh with You and tell You my deepest desires and secrets. I want to know the joy of Your presence. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

My plans and desires are to get a boyfriend, get married and go and live in Cardiff. That's what I really want to do. That plus get better at being an artist. I've got quite a specific idea about the sort of house I want in Cardiff. Preferably detached, large garden to front and rear, driveway and garage that is used as a garage and hasn't been converted into anything else. In the kitchen I want the sink to be by the window so that I can look out of the window when I'm washing up and I want an electric cooker not gas. I want carpet throughout, except in the kitchen, bathroom and toilet. I don't want it to be open plan. I'd prefer to have separate living, kitchen and dining areas, although I'm not against a Kitchen/diner, as long as I have a separate living room that is away from the Kitchen/diner. I want plenty of bedrooms for use as other things. One will obviously be a bedroom, but then I want an art studio for me to paint in, a library/CD/DVD room, games room (I mean board games, Lego, jigsaw etc, not snooker and table tennis!), and maybe a study/office for my husband! Those are my plans and desires.
