Love is eternal

If you're still single and a romantic, you would easily believe that love is eternal. There may be exceptions to this, but married couples, who have been together for so many years have witnessed that through the years passion dies down and what's left is companionship. Is love gone? In many cases, love has not gone but has been transformed into a peaceful 'friendship', The passion has subsided naturally, but the desire to be together is still there. This is most probably the reason why other couples separate, while others stay on. When the passion is gone other couples mistake it as the absence of love, but that's not .what happens. It's because the body would naturally adjust to the other person's, so the lack of sexual desire may ensue, and one partner may try to find a new person that could excite him/her.. While this may not be true with all couples, I still hope that couples would still believe the "love is eternal" notion. Your thoughts?
