Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope you’re having a great day. I’ve enjoyed the turkey, dressing, and key lime pie. Too bad I don’t get leftovers for the pie for the next week.
Anyway, if you’re not up to watching football games or Yule logs, here’s a You Tube video that I enjoy.
#8: Solo Solo Travel
This is wonderful. I find this so incredibly fascinating because I’ve never been to Japan (the closest I’ve been is eating at a Benihana once
).
The sights and travel destinations aren’t so much the focus here as the means of transportation. (Spoiler alert: more videos like this forthcoming.) Here we have a female solo traveler (my kindred spirit, no doubt) taking trains, ferries, and buses across Japan.
As you probably know (especially people from other countries who get to America and go, “Where’s your rail transportation????”), the US doesn’t have much in the way of railroad transportation. So watching the amazing trains in other places just makes my jaw drop.
There’s no talking (other than any background chat she picks up while filming), just English subtitles of her views of the transportation and sleeping arrangements.
She’s also been in a number of the “capsule hotels” that are popular in Japan. I watch those and think, “Why can’t we have one of those in every city to solve the homeless problem?” But that’s for another time.
Meanwhile, enjoy the accommodations of Japan through the eyes of one person.
