Heyyy. I decided to do another Daily Blogging Challenge. Wow, two days in a row lol.
Day 173: “Name something that makes you happy.”
Let me start this answer by saying that if you’re sick of seeing me post about my all-time favorite band, please hit the back button because I need or want anyone raining on my parade (I’d never do that to any of you). This is the answer I've chosen for today's blogging challenge.
But if it doesn’t bother you, then I hope you enjoy what became a lengthy post lol.
I’ve been a fan of New Kids On The Block for about 32 years, as of today anyway because I can’t remember what month I became a fan (I was 4yrs old, so how could I lol?). My older sister introduced me to them in 1989 and the rest is history.
I don’t think I need to go through the history of being their fan again because that’s not really the point of this post. The point is… they make me happy. It’s their music. Their concerts, appearances and music videos. Interacting on their -official- social media accounts (I’ve interacted with 4 out of 5 of the guys on Twitter and Instagram). The fact that they’re genuinely good guys, but also a bunch of goofballs. And of course, the fact that they always wanna interact and keep their fans happy, including virtual events in 2020.
They’ve been a light for me this year (not to say my support system wasn’t, but we’re not talking about that right now). When I attended their show in early August, it was the mental break I needed when my Mom’s health was declining. From interacting with Donnie during Blue Bloods to watching the guys perform with New Edition on the American Music Awards… these guys have put a much-needed smile on my face this year.
But it’s nothing new for these guys to make me happy. They’ve been doing it for three decades, even when they weren’t a group anymore (they broke up in 1994 and reunited in 2008). I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same.
I hope I’m able to attend one of the shows on their tour next year (it’s still 50/50 right now). It’s pretty much the only big event (i.e., concerts, sports, etc.) I wanna do next year (as of right now).
And maybe one day, I’ll meet at least one member of the group (I have mixed feelings as to whether I think that’ll happen). But until then, I’ll stick to enjoying their music and smiling. :)
And since I’ll be sharing this one on my Twitter (with the guys tagged)…. Thank you, NKOTB, for always making me happy, and for being a light when I needed it.

P.S. - Aren't they cute lol?

For a while in 2016 BTS has made me happy and inspired especially V. These days though books are my companion.

No harm in that. My niece was a fan, not sure if she still is. We don't talk. Anyway, that's beside the point. It's wonderful you have such a high love for the band and their music. Amazing in 2022, (let's face it 2021 is basically over) they're still going strong.
