Subarnarekha river is a long river connecting Jamshedpur Ghatsila Ranchi and Hazaribagh. In the monsoon the river overflows and damages crops. So for regulating it Chandil Dam is build having many gates which help both in regulating the water and also creating hydro electric power. In December January many travellers come to do picnic at the banks of the river.
