Day 203 Psalm 107:1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endures forever. 2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; 3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. 4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. 5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. 6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. 7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation. 8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! 9 For he satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness. Are you thankful? Do people see you as a grateful person, ready to lend a hand when needed, thankful for everything? The psalmist told his people they needed to praise God and give Him thanks for all He did for them. He showed how God led them through the wilderness and delivered them from their troubles. The psalmist also showed people don’t praise God enough for all He does for them when he said, ‘Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men!’ When was the last time you praised God for all He does for you? As Christians, it’s easy to sing the oh woe is me song and wallow in what you don’t have, rather than praise God for what you do have. You need to turn the tables in your life and praise God for how He took care of you in trouble, even before you see the answer, when everything looks bleak, and it doesn’t appear God cares. He cares. He wants to hear from you. He wants you to praise Him at all times. Habakkuk 3:17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: 18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon my high places. No matter what your life looks like, the psalmist showed you need to give thanks to God. Habakkuk saw the bleakness of the harvest and found a reason to praise God. Remember, God’s promise is to provide everything you need. Pray, praise, and give thanks to God and you will always see His answer. Let’s pray: Father, help me praise You when life looks bleak. Remind me of Your promises as I stand on Your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 2 January 2022 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
